Nordstrom has just announced that it will permanently close 16 stores due to the on-going coronavirus pandemic. CEO Erik Nordstrom also announced that the corporate office will be restructured “for greater speed and flexibility” and that Nordstrom and Nordstrom Rack operations will be integrated as part of the restructure. Nordstrom furloughed workers last month and has not yet set a date for re-opening stores.

This announcement comes just days after J. Crew’s parent company filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy and industry analysts expect other retailers to follow suit.

Moorea Seal’s online store is back open this week after nearly seven weeks of being closed due to the coronavirus outbreak. The much-anticipated reopening comes just a few days before Mother’s Day and with some important changes. Orders will be shipped out on Tuesdays and Wednesdays of each week, and returns/exchanges will no longer be accepted. A note on the Moorea Seal website says: “Due to the circumstances surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic, we are going to begin transitioning our model to drop shipping, which means we be able to store and maintain less physical inventory.”
