FXRY Announces Grand Opening of Studio in Seattle
FXRY, the fashion industry’s go-to service provider for modern clothing repairs and alterations, has announced the opening of a new flagship studio in Seattle’s Mount Baker neighborhood, offering both weekday appointments and weekend walk-ins.
After 18 months of operating local pop-ups and providing pick-up and delivery services to meet client needs, the flagship at 1414 31st Ave S. marks a significant milestone in FXRY’s mission to keep clothing in rotation and out of landfills.
Founder Calley Dawson spent 25 years in the corporate fashion world and deeply understands the devastating environmental impacts of overproduction. Her goal is to help consumers extend the life of garments already in circulation and make clothing repair the standard, not the exception. From invisible sweater mending to expert denim alterations, waist tailoring, re-lining, hemming, and more, the service offering at FXRY helps shift the culture of clothing care.
“Most people have items sitting in their closet that are in need of alterations or repairs, but don’t know where to go,” says Dawson. “We’re here to change that and make fixing clothing just as satisfying as buying something new.”
The company recently added a chainstitch machine to personalize garments with unique, handcrafted designs and expanded its denim repair capabilities with a vintage denim darner for seamless, long-lasting repairs. FXRY also uses an industrial coverstitch machine, which allows for a near factory finish on knit repairs and alterations. These creative services transform everyday repairs into opportunities for unique customization and personal expression.
FXRY also aims to play a key role in educating the public about the importance of repair over replacement through engaging content on social media. By showcasing what’s possible with clothing repairs, such as revitalizing sweaters and other garments thought to be beyond repair, FXRY is helping to shift the consumer mindset around sustainability. A clever mix of visually engaging before-and-after transformations of garments and thought-provoking content about the impact of responsible garment care have deeply resonated with the FXRY’s digital community, inspiring followers to extend the life of their garments and reduce textile waste.
The studio expansion also allows the FXRY to broaden its reach with nationwide mail-in services to facilitate repairs from around the country. As a new business concept focused on repair over replacement, FXRY its well positioned to transform how people approach the care and longevity of their clothing.
Since its launch in early 2024, FXRY has helped save over 3,000 garments from going into landfills. The company has also partnered with a variety of local retailers and brands including Filson, Eileen Fisher Renew, Jenni Kayne, Hoste, and The Barn Owl, to make clothing repair and restoration easy and accessible to the community.
FXRY currently offers:
