Fashion Recap: Neiman Marcus Fall Trend Event

Neiman Marcus welcomed a packed house on Wednesday, August 10th at the semi-annual trend event in Bellevue. Fall fashion was on full display as curated by featured panelists Jenny McCullum of Seattle magazine, Terri Morgan of TCM Models, and Rosaline Hampton, stylist and CEO of Rosaline Hampton Inc. Darcy Camden of Styled Seattle served as the event emcee and guided panelists through a series of trends on the Neiman Marcus 'It List'. Here's a peek at the top trends for fall!

Ripe berry shades give fall fashion an instant warm-up.  This gorgeous look styled by Terri Morgan features a Narciso Rodriguez Dress, an open-front Escada jacket with lace detail, Gianvito Rossi shoes, a trapezoid shapre Givenchy handbag, and a Lulu Frost pearl choker with a velvet tie detail.

For everyday wear, Jenny kept the berry look casual and opted for a long sleeve woven top by Rails, distressed denim by Frame (#onlyatNM), a tote with fringe detail from Saint Laurent,  sunglasses by Céline (in stores only), and shoes by Stuart Weitzman.

Rosaline played with monochrome for her berry-inspired look and gave a nod to the current menswear trend. Her picks included a Brunello Cucinelli jacket and scarf, pants from The Row (special to Neiman Marcus for a limited-time only), loafer-inspired shoes by Prada, and a suede handbag by Chloe

The second trend examined by the group for fall was the onset of voluminous skirts that take on many forms this season. Jenny picked a studded leather skirt by Alice + Olivia, paired with a black Theory top and studded shoes by Valentino.

The calf-skin, cross-body handbag by Tom Ford is exclusive to Neiman Marcus in the Northwest.

Rosaline picked a gorgeous lace dress by Co, a label that is new for the fall season to Neiman Marcus. The cascading hemline perfectly frames the suede Prada shoes, and the look is finished with a handbag by Bottega Veneta.

Terri sourced inspiration from Neiman Marcus Fashion Director Ken Downing with her second look featuring a top by Theory, a moto jacket by Iro, and a chiffon maxi skirt by Elie Tahari. The outfit was completed with a Valentino bag accessorized with a guitar-inspired strap, available at Neiman Marcus. That rock-and-roll detail should be high on your fall shopping list, according to Ken.

For the third look, featured stylists were asked to pick their favorite pieces for fall and style them into a look. Rosaline chose a chic jacket by Giorgio Armani, faux leather stretch leggings by The Row, a hat by Brunello Cucinelli, sunglasses by Céline and velvet platform sandals by Prada

Jenny took a utilitarian approach to her third look and picked a black turtleneck by Theory, bomber jacket by Brunello Cucinelli, gray denim jeans by J. Brand, velvet shoes by Prada, and a statement handbag by Balenciaga

My favorite look, and the one that was most colorful, was pulled by Terri Morgan. Her fall-inspired outfit included a floral dress by Alice + Olivia, wool-blend coat by Lafayette 148, velvet shoes by Gionvito Rossi and a handbag by Chloe.

For evening, Rosaline decided to showcase both color and texture with her final look. The leather top, lace skirt and fur-trimmed sweater (featured above) are all from Alice + Olivia, paired with Christian Louboutin shoes, and a handbag by Edie Parker.

Jenny's final look was a total showstopper featuring a gorgeous black and white dress by J Mendel, clutch by Edie Parker, shoes by Renee Vaovilla (only at Neiman Marcus), and statement earrings by Oscar De La Renta. (P.s. This look is perfect for the Seattle magazine 50th Anniversary party taking place this fall!)

Terri took evening by storm with this gorgeous get-up featuring a velvet top by Giorgio Armani, pants by Brunello Cucinelli, sparkly shoes by Renee Caovilla, and a handbag by Roger Viver, exclusive to Neiman Marcus in Bellevue.

Must-have trends to try for fall 2016:

- Texture: Savor this trend and dapple in rich velvet, smooth suede, luxurious faux fur, and extravagant feathers. Wear the texture trend in the form of strappy velvet shoes, a faux fur clutch, or a structured suede handbag.

- Color: Ripe berries, rich yellows, and royal purples all look fresh this season when paired with muted neutrals including tan, black, and gray. The monochrome look (a.k.a the same color in various shades from head to toe) is THE LOOK this season. Enjoy this moment in fashion when anything goes and your outfit is better when it's thrown together on a whim.

- Chokers: The statement accessory from the 90's makes a major comeback this season. Valentino added rockstuds, Lulu Frost opted for pearls, and Oscar De La Renta added an oversized silk bow.

- Voluminous Skirts: Forget the bodycon dress, this season is all about skirts that flow. This trend is about fluidity and flowy shapes. Add structure with a fitted jacket or belted waist.

- The Bomber Jacket: To the joy of many, myself included, the bomber jacket lives on for fall '16.  This season the bomber jacket is heavily embellished, cropped, distressed, and in the case of Elie Tahari, entirely made of lace.
