Glittersweet joins Seattle Made

JUNE 18, 2015 Seattle, WA - Glittersweet has officially joined Seattle Made, a Seattle Good Business Network initiative to support urban manufacturers and craft producers in the city. Keeping production close to home has always been a top priority for Glittersweet owner Laura Silverstein and in addition to reducing lead times it also helps manage quality control.
“The first bags we made were produced in my basement,” says Laura, “Now that the line has grown and sales continue to increase, local manufacturing resources have become vital for the business.”
Earlier this spring when King 5’s Evening Magazine featured Glittersweet’s “Seattle Colors” collection on the show, sales on the website soared. The ability to have access to local production facilities was critical for inventory replenishment. With sales growing 46% in the first quarter alone and the impending launch of a new style that make its debut at the Fashion First Runway Show in September, Glittersweet anticipates a very productive year in 2015. Joining Seattle Made has allowed the company to align with other local businesses who are working to preserve domestic production and sustain urban manufacturing.

These businesses are key to growing living-wage jobs and their creativity are what help keep Seattle Seattle,” says Seattle Good Business Network Co- Director Erin Nelson, “Our goal is to do everything we can to make sure businesses like Laura’s can afford to stay and thrive in Seattle.”
Glittersweet products can be found locally at Phinney Books, the Terry Ave. Saturday Market on South Lake Union and on the first and third weekends of the month at The Handmade Showroom located at Pacific Place.
